Position Summary

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position is responsible for      day-to-day HR duties such as, but not limited to: handling internal/external correspondences, full cycle recruitment, providing general confidential administrative support, maintaining HR personnel files, manager requested documentation, WCB/WSIB correspondence and all other HR support as required.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Assist managers in creating and posting internal and external job opportunities
  • Assist in maintaining and updating external/internal job applicant databases
  • Attend career fairs, expos, conferences, recruiting and community events
  • Provide employee assistance with STD/LTD processing
  • Manage WCB/WSIB including inputting, follow up and return to work
  • Administration of the employee recognition and referral programs
  • Maintain Human Resources Personnel Files
  • Assist managers with performance management in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist in preparation of employment letters
  • Assist with the exit interview process
  • Full cycle recruitment including pre-screens, scheduling interviews, preparing interview packages, participating in interviews, completing reference checks, managing new hire documentation and creating offer letters
  • Provide service to internal and external customers on all HR inquiries and requests
  • Perform all other human resources duties and administrative support as assigned by HR Manager and/or VP
  • Provide ongoing HR support in the absence of the HR Manager

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education with successful completion of Diploma or Degree in Human Resources preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a Human Resources support role
  • Management experience considered and asset
  • Knowledge of full cycle recruitment
  • Experience administering policies and procedures
  • Experience maintaining an HRIS systems considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Canada Labour Code considered an asset
  • Experience with Benefits and WCB/WSIB administration preferred
  • Ability to read and understand collective agreements

Working Conditions

  • Travel by flight required to our operational bases, and other needs determined by the company
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations as well as offsite recruiting and company interested events
  • Ability to quality for WAA pass
  • Both independent and team work required
  • Long periods of sitting and frequent use of stairs
  • Contact with staff and general public
