Do you know the best way to bring a community together? Would you believe us if we told you it involves ripening blueberries?
Since 1983, Sioux Lookout has proudly hosted its very own Blueberry Festival; a ten-day celebration running from August 1-10 each year. Named after the delicious blueberries that ripen in August, the festival has grown to feature 100+ scheduled events. It even introduced its own beloved mascot, Blueberry Bert, who only makes appearances during the festival, like Sioux Lookout’s very own Easter Bunny.
The idea behind the festival was to create a time for the community to celebrate and showcase all that makes Sioux Lookout special, share interests amongst one another, and most importantly, have some fun together. Since its beginnings, the festival has continued to grow, adding new events every year while retaining the charm of the originals, drawing in visitors from around the world.
