Health Concerns

Travelling With Health Concerns

Our priority at Perimeter Aviation and Bearskin Airlines is the health, safety, and comfort of our passengers and crew. We understand travelling with a medical condition can be overwhelming which is why we’ve incorporated some information to help you on your journey.

Medication and Medical Items

You are permitted to bring medication on board. For a smooth and safe journey, please observe the following guidelines regarding your medication:

  • Always carry your medication in your carry-on luggage, placed in an easily accessible area, instead of in checked baggage for optimal safety and health.
  • While not mandatory, we recommend carrying a letter from your medical practitioner that confirms the type of medication, prescribed doses, its purpose, and any additional medical items needed, such as syringes.
  • Medications should be kept in their original packaging, which should be pharmaceutically labeled to clearly show that they are prescribed to you.
  • Bring a repeat prescription to facilitate replacement of your medication in case of loss, damage, or if your supply runs out.
  • If you use any needles during the flight, please inform our cabin crew so they can provide you with a proper disposal container.

Please note that our cabin crew is not permitted to administer medication. If you require medication during your flight, you must be able to self-administer it or travel with someone who can assist you.

Medical Travel Clearance

Please be advised that if you have a pre-existing medical condition, air travel may pose certain risks. In the event of a medical emergency onboard, we will coordinate an unplanned landing to provide access to high-quality ground medical care, although this may require additional coordination time.

If you are traveling with a medical condition, it is crucial to consult your physician to confirm your fitness to fly before finalizing your travel plans.

For the safety of all passengers, certain medical conditions require prior communication with us and a medical certificate or letter for clearance to fly, including:

  • You have an unstable medical or psychological condition that has previously caused a flight diversion.
  • You have suffered from a recent major medical incident such as a heart attack, heart failure, stroke, or respiratory failure.
  • You have undergone major surgery within the two weeks prior to your travel.
  • You have, or appear to have, an infectious or contagious disease such as tuberculosis, chickenpox, or measles.
  • You have experienced a medical incident aboard a previous flight that may require attention.

The medical certificate or letter must be written by a physician, or in the case of passengers from remote areas without a doctor, by the Nurse in Charge at the local nursing station. It must confirm that you are capable of completing the flight safely without extraordinary medical assistance. This document must be dated within 10 days of the first flight on your itinerary.
