Restricted & Prohibited Items

Restricted and Prohibited Items When Travelling

Travel With Ease

Before you start packing for your trip, it’s important to spend a couple of minutes reviewing which items are safe to bring on board and which ones you should leave at home.

Many everyday objects may seem harmless but could become hazardous on a flight due to changes in pressure and temperature affecting their chemical or physical properties. Taking a moment to check the regulations can help ensure a seamless travel experience from check-in to the final boarding call.

The list below pertains to travel to or from a non-CATSA airport. If you are travelling to, from, or connecting to a CATSA airport, you can find important information on the Canadian Air Transport Security (CATSA) website.

When travelling with other airlines, please always refer to their policies about restricted and prohibited items.

When Your Checked Baggage Changes to a Cargo Shipment

If you decide to change your baggage from checked to cargo for any reason, be aware that the regulations concerning what can be contained in the cargo shipment may differ.

Some items that are allowed in checked baggage are considered a dangerous goods in cargo and therefore required additional paperwork and information. This is often due to safety concerns related to the cargo area’s distinct environment and handling requirements. Without the proper dangerous goods declaration and paperwork, the items are subject to dangerous goods consequences which can include fines.

Common items that are permitted in checked baggage that are considered a dangerous good as a cargo shipment are perfume, aerosols like hairspray, medicines containing alcohol, bug repellant, and sunscreen. Please review the Cargo Shipping Restrictions prior to shipping or speak to a Customer Service Agent at check-in if you have questions.

Legend

  1. Customers are reminded that these items should travel as carry-on to minimize the possibility of the item being damaged during transportation.
  2. Previous arrangements must be made with Perimeter Aviation management and must be carried or shipped by a priest.
  3. Unless previous arrangements are made with Perimeter Aviation management, written approval must be obtained from the local community Chief and Council where the alcohol or cannabis will be transported for ALL First Nation communities in our network.
  4. Items cannot be placed into baggage once they are removed during the boarding process.
  5. Items may be shipped in the cargo compartment if weight/space is available.
  6. Item is considered a dangerous good and must comply with Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations.
  7. Restrictions apply.
