Meet The Crew

Employee Spotlight: Anna Heinimaki

by Perimeter Aviation 2 min read

Some people can point to a single moment that set them on course for their future career. For Anna, there was no pivotal moment or event that sparked her inspiration. She simply had a lifelong appreciation for planes, a passion that’s been with her for as long as she can remember.

That interest led her to enroll in her high school’s Aviation and Aerospace course, which became her first real introduction to the world of aviation. It was a class she ended up adoring, and it became a catalyst to help her decide what she wanted to do with her future. In her final year, she took a similar course that included a co-op placement with an airline. That airline ended up being Bearskin Airlines. The experience deepened her interest and gave her hands-on exposure to the industry.

Fresh out of high school, Anna sent her resume back to where she received her first training, eager to continue learning. She ended up landing a position at the Thunder Bay counter. With her goal of becoming a pilot, Anna was keen to understand ground operations and the behind-the-scenes processes that often get overlooked. She embraced the counter role and quickly found joy in it, especially thanks to her love for the Metroliners and the incredible team she works with.

When asked about her favourite part of the job, it’s no surprise Anna didn’t hesitate,

It’s the people, the job wouldn’t be the same without them.

After two years in the role, she loves what she does and the people she gets to do it with.

Although the path wasn’t clearly marked from the beginning, Anna took every opportunity as it came her way. Her advice to others considering a similar journey?

Ask questions, take chances, and enjoy the ride.

Anna’s story is still unfolding, and it’s a reminder that there’s no single way into aviation. Sometimes, you just have to follow your interests and see where the ride takes you. We’re glad to have her on our team and look forward to watching her journey.
