For Susan, becoming a flight attendant was a calling fueled by her love for travel, her dream of experiencing diverse cultures, and her passion for helping people.
The path to achieving her dream wasn’t easy; it meant completing intense airline training, mastering safety procedures, and overcoming challenges like demanding schedules and time away from family. These challenges ultimately shaped her into who she is today, building resilience and deepening her passion for service. In return, she’s gained unique life skills, demonstrated personal growth, and enjoyed the reward of getting to see the world.
Susan chose Perimeter Aviation because she wanted to experience the North. Flying into different communities, meeting new people, and learning about their cultures was something she was excited to do firsthand. She says,
Being the only flight attendant onboard gives me the chance to have close communication with passengers, which is amazing.
That personal connection is at the heart of everything she does.
Before every flight, she prepares a fresh bottle of water, clean napkins, wet wipes, and a chocolate bar for her Captain and First Officer. “They’re always grateful, they smile, and if we’re having a bad day, they eat their chocolate, laugh, and always say thank you.” For passengers, she brings the same warmth offering kindness, light‑hearted jokes, and little touches that make people feel welcome.
Her kindness extends beyond the cabin, too. If she works weekends, she often brings the ramp team hot chocolate and donuts as a thank you. “I know I don’t have to, but they work hard, and they’re great people.”
It’s become a running joke at work that Susan always has chocolate with her, and she happily hands it out to staff to brighten their day. Over time, these small gestures have helped her build friendships and a sense of family within the company.
When asked about her favourite part of the jobs, she says,
Flying home at night watching the sunsets.” She adds, “I can’t forget my Captain and First Officer, I absolutely love flying with every single one of them.
