Under certain conditions, you may be eligible to claim compensation for a delayed or cancelled flight. This page offers a brief overview of the relevant guidelines under the Air Passenger Protection Regulations. Should there be any discrepancy between this summary and the applicable laws, the latter will take precedence.
The compensation levels for passengers impacted by flight disruptions are governed by Canada’s Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR). According to these regulations, we will provide the following minimum compensation to eligible passengers for qualifying delays and cancellations:
Length of Delay | Eligible Compensation |
---|---|
3 to 6 hours | $125 |
6 to 9 hours | $250 |
9 hours or more | $500 |
Compensation is issued per journey. Eligibility depends on how long your arrival at your destination was delayed and the main cause of the delay.
If you decline alternative travel arrangements and opt for a ticket refund instead, you may be eligible for up to $125 in compensation.
Compensation will be offered in cheque or equivalent forms (including electronic payments). However, passengers may choose to accept other forms of compensation (e.g., flight vouchers), which must be of greater value and cannot have an expiration date.
