At Perimeter Aviation, our team is our greatest asset, and today, we are shining a spotlight on our Timmins AME Crew Chief, Jonah whose journey reflects passion for aviation and unwavering commitment to keeping our skies safe.
Jonah was captivated by the world of aviation from childhood. “I was inspired by the power of airplanes and would often visit Dairy Queen in Toronto with my grandfather to watch them land and take off. This early exposure sparked my lifelong passion for aviation,” he recalls. I was always fascinated by their raw power to fly and soar to high altitudes. This early exposure to aviation sparked a lifelong passion for Jonah and laid the foundation for his aviation career.
Jonah’s path to becoming an AME (Aircraft Maintenance Engineer) was unconventional yet remarkable. After completing a semester at Canadore College, he seized an apprenticeship opportunity with Air Creebec in Quebec. Over the next four years, he dedicated himself to gaining hands-on experience and logging numerous hours before taking Transport Canada’s AME License exams at Red River College’s Stevenson Campus and the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) Exam in Sudbury, Ontario.

Reflecting on his journey, Jonah says, “It was a challenging 4 years, but understanding the job made it easier over time with effort and studying.” His career spans various types of aircraft such as the Beechcraft King Air 100/200, Cessna Grand Caravan 208B, Metroliner, Dash 8-100/300 to mention a few. His experience cuts across diverse environments across Canada and the United States. He emphasizes the need for critical thinking and adaptability in aviation – “Aviation requires critical thinking, patience, and the ability to adapt to changes last minute.”
For Jonah, the most rewarding aspect of being an AME is ensuring aviation safety. My favorite part is knowing that I keep our skies safe,” he shares. Guided by this aircraft maintenance question: “Would you be confident enough in your work to put your family on that flight? Jonah uses this mindset every day to ensure each aircraft is fit for flight.
When asked why he chose Perimeter Aviation, Jonah says, “Throughout my career, I dreamed of leading my own team and managing my own base, Perimeter Aviation offered me this opportunity in October 2022. I’ve never felt so valued, appreciated, respected, trusted, and welcomed into such a great and amazing airline to grow my career.”
To aspiring AMEs, Jonah offers invaluable advice: “It’s a challenging yet rewarding career. Keep learning new skills and techniques to benefit yourself and your team.”
Jonah’s commitment to safety exemplifies the spirit of Perimeter Aviation. We are proud to have him on our team and look forward to his continued success.
