What inspired you to pursue a career in aviation maintenance? And what continues to motivate you?

The idea that hundreds of people trust an aircraft to safely carry them across the world inspired me to want to be part of that responsibility. I stay motivated because every completed task is a reminder that attention to detail truly matters in this industry, and I wish to keep on growing.

Can you describe your journey to the cockpit?

I completed my 2-year study in Avionics Technology at SAIT in Alberta, Canada, where I gained both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. The program required strong academic performance and high attendance standards to meet Transport Canada requirements. That was a challenge, but it helped me to build discipline and technical confidence now in the industry.

What is your favourite part of being an AME?

My favourite part of being an AME is the hands-on nature of the work. I enjoy being directly involved with the aircraft: inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing maintenance that keeps it safe and airworthy. There’s a strong sense of responsibility that comes with the role, knowing that the work I do directly contributes to the safety of the flight. Every day is an opportunity to learn something new, and that continuous growth keeps me motivated.

What career moment are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of building my path from aviation school to securing a full-time position in the industry. Transitioning from student to professional was a significant milestone that required persistence, adaptability, and confidence. As a young woman in aviation maintenance, earning my place in this field and continuing to grow and become a licensed AME in Avionics is something I am focused on.

What advice would you offer to young girls who are interested in aviation maintenance?

Don’t let stereotypes define your path. Aviation maintenance requires skill, dedication, and attention to detail: not a specific gender. Be confident, ask questions, and never stop learning. If you are passionate and willing to work hard, there is absolutely a place for you in this industry.
